A rare fusion of decerning skill, intellectual concepts and artistry, Silverpoint artist, Lauren Amalia Redding’s evolution into contemporary art is rooted in academia beginning with a history and political theory education from Northwestern University, including fine art/visual art. Later, a graduate of the globally-renowned New York Academy of Art studying under notable artists such as Steven Assael, Lisa Bartolozzi, Noah Buchanan, Harvey Citron, Edward Schmidt, and Dan Thompson, she acquired a Masters with honors. Inspired by the world’s most encyclopedic and beloved art collections working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan in art securities while in New York, Amalia-Redding also is a sought-after arts writer and critic as well as a teacher in her specialization. References to subject matter such as human pioneering and advancements; both the classical world and Renaissance masterworks are central to her art and as an artist in Residence, at the Florence School of Fine Arts, Florence, Italy, these origins are authentically represented in her collections as she depicts human aspiration toward ascension and the discovery of the great unknown.
“I depict those who, with nuance and conviction, traverse monumental chasms into the fleeting unknown—those who seek both autonomy and refuge in new frontiers.”
– Lauren Amalia-Redding
