CHRISTY LEE ROGERS | METHOD & CONCEPT

Christy Lee Rogers is a visual artist from Kailua, Hawaii whose obsession with water as a medium has shifted the conventions of contemporary photography. Her art is readily compared to Baroque painting masters like Caravaggio for their boisterous color and complexity. Rogers applies her cunning techniques to create photographic effects using the refraction of light through a fragile process of experimentation. Elaborate scenes of coalesced colors and entangled bodies exalt the human character as one of vigor and warmth, while also capturing the beauty and vulnerability of the tragic experience that is the human condition.

Rogers’ works are exhibited globally from Paris, London, Italy, Mexico City to Shanghai, Sao Paulo, South Africa, Los Angeles and most recently has emerged as a represented artist of Method & Concept in Naples, Florida. Works are available through Method & Concept in a variety of sizes and a curated selection will be on view January 13th at the gallery. Sought after for corporate, public and private collections around the globe, the artist has been featured by Apple for iPhone, interviewed by BBC and CNN and featured in international magazines, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Art China, Elle Decoration, Global Times, The Independent, Casa Vogue to name a few. Rogers’ work graces stately homes where paintings of the great masters are displayed yet equally showcased in contemporary environments. Further, her art adorns album covers for rock bands and french opera singers. In 2019 she won Open Photographer of the Year at the Sony World Photography Awards and in 2020 she created the cover image for the 2021 Lavazza Calendar ‘The New Humanity.’

"My purpose behind the work is to question and find understanding in the craziness, tragedy, vulnerability, beauty and power of mankind." – CLR
