EXHIBITION  |  NEW WORK  |  FEATURE ON GLASS
DECEMBER 6, 2023 – APRIL 1, 2024

Method & Concept exhibition, New Work | Feature on Glass, introduces Swedish glass master Peter Hermansson (Swedish, b. 1975), a graduate of The Orrefors National Glass School in Sweden. Hermansson’s Graal technique, characterized by complex glass layering, synergizes with his bold use of graffiti-style iconography. His body of work showcases one-of-a-kind skill and innovation, bringing timely significance to the remarkable craft.

Also featured  is the first exhibition with Method & Concept for American glass master DH McNabb who presents a series of Horizon and Plinth studies that emphasize the ‘in-between colorways’ of the American horizon. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and Centre College in Kentucky, McNabb has honed his mastery under the guidance of luminaries such as Lino Tagliapietra, Stephen Powell, Dante Marioni, Janusz Pozniak, and James Mongrain. His affiliations with  Pilchuck and Penland, and with work among permanent collections of the Corning Museum, Center College, and Tacoma Museum of Glass, McNabb solidifies his place alongside his glass contemporaries.

Among the distinguished new artists, New Works with a Feature on Glass presents new and unseen work from Method & Concept’s notable roster of glass artists such as New York-based Jamie Harris (b. 1975), and Washington State-based Dylan Martinez (b.1985) whose scientific inquiry about the source of human perspective informs his conceptual glass collections and Joshua Wojick (b. 1980), a Detroit-based glass artist whose subjects reference the fragility of nature.   Architectural mirrors of Brooklyn-based Bower Studios fill the walls alongside the art of Debra Smith (Kansas City b. 1971), graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute and The Fashion Institute of Technology whose pieced vintage silk abstractions provide a softened contrast.
