Natan Moss
For Natan Moss, the core philosophy in his art and design practice is to simply make beautiful things that elevate the spaces they reside in. As a young artist in the studio, studying under his uncle, Californian Potter David Cuzick; Moss’s inspiration formed. Influences of Japan, Scandinavia, and Italy of the 1960’s as well as profound experiences led to decades of mindful practice of his medium. Moss employs a mood and mind-state regarding his approach to the experience of making, transforming his studio practice into a resonating ritual. Natan Moss’s ceramic sculpture is designed to simulate one’s senses and elevate the energy purely by their presence within a space. The work is embodied though infusions of minimalist ideas, and well-formed function, skillful compositions, and accentuated textures. Decorative vessels and high-end art furniture are just some facets of his acumen as his fine art sculpture playfully touches on the transcendent. “I believe art is the absence of cynicism and that is what I’m trying to relay in my work.” - - Natan Moss
